The City Consultation is a way of engaging the city for
effective leadership and positive change. Built on the consultation model
of Drs. Ray Bakke and Jon Sharpe, participants in these learning communities
will be able to participate and learn with leaders as they wrestle with
the core issues within their particular city. The City Consultation begins
with an exploratory phase one year prior to the actual consultation.
Those involved will typically be engaged at the exploratory stage, during
the consultation, and then in the review process.
City Consultations provide a means for global leaders to interact within the largest cities of the world. City consultations may be developed to address a global issue prevalent in cities (Belfast Reconciliation Consultation would be a consultation of this type) or simply helping global urban leaders learn how to map and build networks for positive change within their cities. Ongoing coaching is available for city leadership teams as they seek to
understand and work for positive change within their city. Students from
a wide variety of educational partnerships will be included in these consultatiions. Many participants will want to join a Learning Community to move into advanced learning for their city. The Learning Community brings people together for intensive field trips with people seeking to grow their leadership in some area of expertise. These Learning Communities can be accessed for academic credit for the participant.
