Mission

"Connecting and cultivating leaders to bring positive change to the cities of the world"

The Center is an educational organization connecting and cultivating leaders for the purpose of bringing positive change to the cities of the world. The Center provides learning communities focused on global urban leadership for educational institutions, businesses, faith based organizations, and affinity groups. The Center also develops partnerships that strengthen transformational leadership bringing change to people, places, and systems.

We intentionally recruit emerging, mid-career and post-career leaders to join in ongoing leadership learning communities. The Center facilitates learning for a lifetime of mission engagement in the cities of the world by connecting leaders from educational institutions, churches, businesses and non-profits.

Why Now?

Leaders of the past dealt primarily with mono-cultural environments rarely impacted by globalization where particular skill sets and proven techniques could be utilized to solve problems. Leaders were often trained to manage for maintenance or for production.

Leaders living within cities today are faced with multi-cultural complexities, competing ideas, economic systems, nations, and urban growth requiring entrepreneurial social expertise, deep reflection, and excellent communication. The present complex global reality requires more than management, it requires leadership where coordination and implementation of variable skill sets not only solves problems but also builds capacity.

Leaders of the future will face urban centers spinning out of control with populations nearing the twenty million mark, with limited resources as the rule, and with unparalleled social and cultural complexities as millions migrate from rural to urban and then from urban to urban in their quest for jobs, homes, and safety. The global realities will demand leaders who understand how to adapt and connect multiple people groups, communities, systems, for the good of the city and the world. Leaders will be forced to grow their social and spiritual wisdom to provide sustenance and healing for people in chaos. Social capital will be more important than financial capital and social and spiritual wisdom more important than knowledge.
