"The richness of the diversity, the cultural and historic immersion, and the great fellowship with front-line visionaries from around the globe made the Ireland consultation an experience I will treasure for a lifetime." – Bob
Lupton Belfast Reconcilation Comments "To my delight and appreciation the consultation far surpassed all expectations and became, what I would call, an experience of concentrated greatness. Not only were the speakers from the US filled with insight and wisdom, but they were here as one of us, eager to learn. Together we were taught by those experienced in the reconciliation journey in Northern Ireland and around the world."- Amelia Morgan "Reconciliation is not something to be arrived at in the abstract world of academia, but in interaction with people on the ground who experience the daily pain and fear associated with socio-political division and damaged relationships." - Dr Gladys Ganiel, Lecturer in Reconciliation Studies Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College Dublin (http://www.tcd.ie/ise and http://www.ecumenics.ie) “Reconciliation is a faith event—it’s a miraculous event. I’m not really sure where it comes from. Peace will require a lot from a lot of people. If it’s the innocent judging the guilty, it’ll never work—it’s the guilty judging the guilty. The profound truth of the gospel is that we are not innocent people—we might be forgiven people. The most psychologically difficult part of reconciliation is the contrition that it will require.”--Duncan Morrow, Community Relations Council Belfast |
